Kim is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of California (LCS 22405 granted in 2004) and holds a Social Worker Independent Clinical License in Washington State (LW 61466964 granted in 2023). She completed a Master Degree in Clinical Social Work – Mental Health Concentration – from San Diego State University and a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She has provided assessment and treatment for multiple and often co-occurring mental health conditions such as Adjustment Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia, Mood Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia, Eating Disorders, and Substance Abuse, since 1998.
Prior to launching her private practice in March of 2007, Kim held a six-year clinical position with UCSD Healthcare-Outpatient Psychiatric Services (OPS). At UCSD-OPS, she treated numerous patients from culturally diverse backgrounds, trained and supervised interns from our local graduate-level programs, and was affectionately titled “the Queen of DBT”.
Most recently, Kim was honored to provide mental health treatment for all-eras of our nation’s veterans at VA Healthcare San Diego from 2012-2016, treating PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, and Adjustment Disorders.
Skilled in a number of treatment approaches, Kim tailors her interventions to the client and their condition. She frequently works with people who are dealing with major life transitions, life/career dissatisfaction, relationship problems, difficulty with communicating and asserting themselves and people who suffer from depression, anxiety, and trauma histories.
